Censorship of media

Why news paper aren’t bold enough to propagate ideas of common man or rather our young generation? There have been times when I used to write letters to the editor of The Hindu and till today not even one has been published by the top notch Indian English Daily. May be News paper has got its own standards in which my article never deemed fitted, No regrets for that. But today our govt. is threatening the very medium which has given mouth  to the thousands of aspiring writer who just write for  sharing their ideas and may be for learning or refining some new one but not for any pecuniary motives as news paper does.

Now question is, are news papers at wrong by not publicizing the popular concern of the masses by allowing more and more articles from public the one like Open page of The Hindu? No, absolutely not..They are doing their job. Print media is governed by certain rules and regulation made under the freedom of press articles of the constitution of India. So, basically writing for print media is not the cup of tea for everyone, only few chosen or I would say few convents educated one can accentuate upon.

Coming back to the core idea of the article..Does Govt. want to shut the mouth of these aspiring writers by enacting new rules of something like internet media censorship.?.Well suddenly from where this internet media things has come into light? Is it the brain child of our ministers or has it been taken from abroad as like other policies. I feel the answer is Yes…As all of us aware about the mozila’s campaign wherein they were asking to sign a letter which later was supposedly be sent to the senate committee for raising the concern of common man regarding the new bill which white house was bringing in on floor of senate for discussion. Why we are so obsessed with assumption of policy fit for all…and simply copying here in India.

Fouls playing and using disparaging language over internet is really creating any havoc or eroding the image of our “saint”-Govt. Acclaimed Saints actually. A big question to be answered by a research which is yet to be publish by someone.?  There are other reasons which advocates of the Indian proposed bill are well aware of. In India internet is not at all penetrated at that level so it required a legislation for regulating its content. First let it grow guys…concentrate on increasing the internet density rather than finding the way to thwart the very wheel of internet uprising i.e. Social media a big concern to the govt.

Authenticity of the Internet based Knowledge-base

I was compelled to write this article just by seeing a comment when one of my learned friends quoted Wikipedia information about the number of amendments and length of Indian Constitution to the reply of some of his friend’s status message. The information was a decade old and partially true. This gentleman has described our mammoth constitution in only two parts viz. articles and schedules (No doubt it is mainly of these two parts) but my learned friend probably was not aware of the supreme court ruling in which it was arbitrated that Preambles are also part of the Indian constitution and can be amended through the Article 368 http://www.indiankanoon.org/doc/594125/ like any other part, making preambles part of the constitution.

So now the main question is knowledge pervaded on the web can be taken as authentic one or not? My own response would be YES but with caution. Caution in the case when you might be liable if something goes wrong because of your information provided. But I have been seeing a lot of post by anti-corruption crusader pouring us with un-authenticated knowledge, so who owns the guarantee of feeding the youth (who is learned but ignorant of not taking pain of verifying the info.) with wrong and sometime agitating information. Should there be an ombudsman for online content too, should we also ban certain pages as China does? Or should responsible people like us take the onus and generate authentic data if not at least suggest the source of it. All these questions are open ended one and require serious discussions by policy makers.

My point of view is that the National Information Centre (NIC)  www.nic.in should rise up to the occasion and start weeding out hoax websites which has been opened truly for doing some unethical business or just for their vested interests. It has become need of hour as today’s youth is doing and spreading what he reads on internet.

One way of from supply side, data generators on internet has to keep the social angle also in their mind because if they are feeding the youth with the wrong information then they are doing the greatest disservice to the nation as well as to the humanity [By doing that they are stopping the brooding of half cooked monsters but learned lecturers].

But this again raises question on the freedom of electronic media. That is why I have mentioned that this is a topic to be discussed at various forums to bring strong measures to curb this menace of pouring youth with un-authentic information.

So the question which I have asked in the topic is a question which have to be answered by all of us in due course otherwise we will have to face the serious consequences.

Does this make me pro-corruption?

You must be aware the interwoven characteristics of bureaucracy-army-judiciary and executive. No one has got absolute power, while in district commanding officer of army office come under district collector [he writes his APAR-annual performance report], IAS are controlled by minister and ministers are controlled by judiciary and judiciary can't question any parliamentarian while doing his duty in legilature. So, this is the beauty of our constitution which our founding father gave on the auspicious day of 26 Nov 1949 to us. And here our beloved [:p] anna hazarey and his brigade wants to change the whole thing :p.

College student and so called technocrat who make their two times living by copying and pasting codes from Google and from tech blogs written by Americans are shouting slogan about changing the face of India changing the way Indian use to be. Holly crap, tomorrow if the same guy is given a chance to go to UK/US for very long term or preferable on UK/US roll he would not mind shelling few Grand [well just a hypothetical situations but true].

we do not need another machinery to curb corruption in the Indian system which inherently is corrupt (due to its corrupt manpower) rather we need honest people to implement already existing rules. But the biggest question is why people act or really are honest. They’re very few people who are honest instinctively, but large numbers of people are act honestly due to fear. So, this whole thing fear psychosis is the lead to the corruption free society. [it would be appropriate to mention hers is that this fear can flow from anywhere be it religion, be it fear of losing social status or be it Lokpal or for that sake anything]

But then are we looking for the rise of a dark knight in India then my suggestion is No not all. Here what we are looking at a total transformation. In India corruption is a household as well as a cultural phenomenon. In order to eradicate this endemic from our country firstly we will have to cleanse our school-education system. And of course a strong law is always welcome but the kind of law which Anna's brigade is advocating should not be accepted at all. It is the threat to the democracy. It is giving the absolute power to the judiciary, as most of the things are to be vetted either by the SC or if not by President.

Then one of my friend suggested that SC needs to set dramatic examples here that makes the public believe that SC stands above everyone, and public doesn’t have to fear. Yes so here the question is the supremacy, weather parliament is supreme or the supreme court. If we go by record of past judgment by SC then I would conclude that SC always has tried to supersede the power of parliament by passing various decrees and petitions. So here I am not starting any debate of parliament and judiciary supremacy but there is requirement of best optimum solution of both to deliver good law and order and clean government.

Now after writing four paragraphs i think, does it make me pro-corruption or anti-anna? In my view no, i am strong pro-anna, against corruption. As a normal tax payer as well as responsible citizen i need my tax to be utilized either for my deeds or for the poor who doesn't have the opportunity like i had during my college days to the reaching at the place where i am.

I always remember one sentence from the book "Lesson to the student by Bapu Ji", There he says 'whatever you do, you should keep the poorest of poor in your mind' [Not an exact sentence but the essence is sth like this], Did this Anna act on the teaching of his guide, Bapu Ji? Where was he when OBC people were fighting for reservation in medical colleges. Why they have been asked to compete with the guys whose forefathers have not kept their promises to deliver good to the humanity and never thought of that poorest of the poor man. Why till today Mondal commission and VP Singh is cursed? Because opportunist people like Anna lives in this country and doesn't want to really meddle with an social issue which has got a risk element for their image.

Anna is fighting for his Bharat Ratna, Kejriwal is fighting for his career [i am able visualize him doing TV commercial in coming future]. And about rest of Indians, they do not know how to fight with this Frankenstein monster corruption So they are just hoping for some solution out of this undemocratic melodrama of our beloved [:p] Anna Hazarey.

Entreprenuership in India

“This site is awesome , just go through the website and explore the entire new world of shopping”, “Final Notice”, “50% discount on banned drugs”, “Get positive changes below the belt”, “ Do you love marriages ”, “Get a degree with no problem”, these are the some of the marketing phrases used by e-marketers through spam mails.

Does any serious customer, looking for the service marketed by these flamboyant phrases would refer to these spam mails? Now a day’s even naïve netizens are well aware that this sort of mail can easily masked with some sort of virus or malware which can affect their machine in copious ways. So, why don’t e-marketers choose some innovating ways of marketing their products?

One innovative way is to have a common platform for posting advertisements by categories and their marketer’s location-a model conceived by a young entrepreneur from Khurja .In this model basically marketer has to pay some menial amount of cash to the website which is maintained by the team of s/w engineers. The power of this website is such that you just enter your area pin code and you have the current offer running in various stores in your neighborhood. Great right? Yes it is obviously great as it was the unique model when it was conceptualize by the Shri Satendra Pratap and which was one amongst the top ten revolutionizing ideas in the Start-up events in EUREQA, IITB. But what next then?

Had this idea popped up in campuses like INSEAD, IMD, Wharton it would have become a reality and by now you would have had it on your mobile phone as an application to scroll through and get running discounts offers on trendy shoes in Central Mall of Bangalore, Or Spice Mall in Noida.

Mera Bharat Mahan(My great India), where entrepreneurship still is in its infant stage. But with the advent of venture capitalist and fund such as floated by Ajim Prmji and Naryan Murthy there may be straight roads for our upcoming fortune makers.

I still remember a sentence from book “India Unbound” by Gurucharan Das (A management thinker and former CEO of P&G) wherein Raju (don’t remember the character’s name exactly) a dalit from a nearby village of town Khurja wanted to open a trunk (steel box) shop rather than working in the fields for meager amount. So, basically the point is Indians intrinsically are entrepreneurial.

But what is lacking in Indian is to break down their comfort zones. A son of groceries marketer wants to be the same or just open another same sort of shop but rather get into entire different venturesome field. Reason behind is the insecurity feeling with which we Indians are born with. Many of us very well remember when mama used to tell us beta/beti you have got to score well in +2 because these marks only will decide weather you get into IITs/NITs/Govt.college, AIIMS/Govt.College/ Next yr. We were insecure as we have narrowed down our horizon only to engineering and medicine.

Slowly these insecurity feeling things are going away from our young generation. Last month I met a 10th grader at Bangalore Cant railway station. This guy just came to me and asked what the time is, even though railway clock was just in front of him. So, I just directed his attention towards the clock. But he sat with me telling that he just wanted to start a conversation with me. I was thankful to him as my train was delayed and I had absolutely nothing to do. You know first thing this kids started talking me was, decomposition of the plastic bags which are freely used by vendors across the city and majors taken by various countries to curb their usages. When I asked about his future plans he was very clear about it. He wanted to become a charted accountant even though her mom (single mother) wanted him to pursue computer engineering. And later when is grown he wanted to start his own accountancy consultancy firm. There was not even a bit of insecurity or fear in him about his plans.

That’s what I am trying to emphasis over here, Indian are intrinsically entrepreneurial but they just need to come out of their comfort zone and which is going to happen in near future I guess.

To Be continued.........................

How being presumptuous can bring delirious consequences

Writing about stochastic processes always has been one of my favorites as in reality everything is capricious just like a flickering star which becomes invisible if you start gazing upon it.

Having attraction towards the fairer sex is not wrong but obsessive attraction is not good for healthy relationship specially when talking about it in work place.
Lets me just delve upon three types of male creatures with whom I had acquaintances with at some point of time, one was completely of that idealistic type, considered the fairer sex equal. As ours is male dominated society, people closed to this creature branded him as gay and even girls (you know this male dominance is ingrained in firer sex also) tagged him as bhaiyaa type.

Second type of gentleman is of completely old fashioned Indian, thinking that until girl is in their territory he is the king and home or work place is his kingdom. For him a female means someone who is weak, intellectually less developed, a follower and subordinate. This self congratulating creature suffers the most in today’s intellectual environment of developing countries like India. With the advent of BPO boom and booming service industry there has been a creation of equal opportunity for both the sexes and the old age saying “female always prey and have right to choose the best among the men” becoming a reality at least amongst highly educated females (specially gals who attain their education from metro cities). Hence surmounting problems for this category of male creatures.

Third category is one which is hated by all women (only at latter stage when their personality is disclosed) but the problem is it is impossible to surface their crafty veil of sophistication. They consider fairer sex as manifestation of toy which they can toll around with their charm and tricks.

Well here is one more special category which has never fall in love or not been in touch with females. This category is very dangerous and females should beware of them as these guys are Pandora of optimism. Even if a female talks to them with a smile they think she is checking them out and they start fantasizing about indulging with them.

So now let me come to the story of flickering star and gaze. Why did I coin that expression over here because some people are growing like flickering star in this sexism game? The reason solely is their optimistic nature. They have ended up losing very good friends because of their lecherous attitude. These guys are not any loafer or uneducated human beings but are our freebies nouveau riche’. Everything works on the laws of possibilities and when your days are not good your every step conforms to the Murphy law. And to what extent it can be delirious we never know. So, let us see what can be the delirious consequences if you are too presumptuous.

Let me narrate a story, a young couple chat on Orkut/facebook (new age social hangouts) chat for hours per day and after some days boy feels that he is in love with the girl and there was nothing of that sort from girl’s side but she has been chatting with him as she respected him for his generosity, help which he had rendered to her when she needed. So, basically as per a normal perspective they were very good friends. But this presumptuous guy was in his own world and presuming that this girl is in love with him so one day he calls the girl for dinner and later on all the formulas of stochastic processes start dancing around him. And finally boy looses a very good friend like a flickering star which he gazed upon.

Power of free speech and discussions.

Sharp understanding of diverse engineering knowledge is the key in order to become an accomplished scientist especially in truly multidisciplinary areas like bio-medical engineering. For example an engineer developing bio-medical instrumentation for measuring body temperature is ought not to be an expert in biology but he is supposed to be aware of the corporal knitty gritty of the human anatomy.

“What do I want from technology?’’ The question thrown by a curious scientist on one of the social networking website of Google Inc. (http://www.orkut.com), to know the scientific acumen of the fellow researchers is blanked almost for fortnight. But then it started getting absurd thoughts, absurd because it’s too futuristic and can’t be appreciated by a contemporary brain.

Absurdity of the idea is limited to the brain until it perceives a logical image. This can be assisted by the blogger by simply elaborating the idea and put down the algorithm to make it a successful technique or methodologies accordingly. No matter how absurd it is.

Gluttony for ideas and appetite to have wild thinking is the kingpin of doing research for developing cutting edge technologies which our researchers, especially techno-R&D managers in governmental R&D institutions lack. Preserving talent is the core competency of these organizations which they call it learning to get into the groove.

Well someone get into the groove in one year, other in two year and some never get into groove at all. Guys of the last category who never get into the said groove are the one who always suffers until they stay in the said organization.
Well at least we have www.orkut.com and www.facebook.com where our words are not being watched by ombudsman of these pseudo-conservative organizations. So, my dear friends lets have open discussions on the web.

World is expending and India is also coupled with the expanded engine of the world society, geographical lines have been omitted by the advent of internet and especially by the social networking websites. Cultural difference doesn’t matter when developing technologies so utilize the resources to the best of their utility and help our nation to exploit the potent knowledge freely available on the web.
